One grows up better with picturebook
„One grows up better with picturebook” is the initiative supporting the readership among children and promoting the picturebook. The example was set by the promotion campaign "Mit Bilderbüchern wächst man besser” made by the German and Austrian social and professional organisations assembling the children publishers. Despite its familiarly sounding title, the subject of the action is the issue not clearly recognized in Poland – the role of the picturebook in winning the young reader. In the world the picturebook is appreciated, and even described as the essential medium in creating the sensibility, creative independence and good relations with the reader. On account of the universal educational values and the language of communication, it makes the area of intense international exchange.
The idea of promoting the picturebook in many countries and , various languages was presented in Poland during the 53 International Book Fair in Warsaw. Mladen Jandrlic, the literary agent and the expert in the field of the children book explained, how big malady for the booksellers is the modern, author’s picturebook, which way to help such a book and how to promote it.
The bookseller loves the picturebook and simultaneously hates it, as it is difficult to sell. It is necessary to show the booksellers, that picturebook is the the gate into the rich world of lectures and the first art gallery, visited by the child. Therefore in the leaflet addressed to them contains the basic information about the value of the picturebook in the emotional education and the general development of the child.

The criteria of publishing and 10 reasons why we should read our children picturebooks. Here two of them:
Picturebook is the little work of art, thanks to which the child gains the orientation in the visual world of signs and pictures.” – is the one of them.
Thanks to transparent and available text and illustrations picturebook provides the first contact with literature ever.” – sounds another one.

The creators of the action “One grows up better with picturebook” supporters of the view, that the information about the age group, to which the book is addressed, should not be put in on the covers of the books, as children of various age may read them and to discover them anew.
